Litron cup and saucer
Around 1810, original is housed in the Decorative Arts Museum in Paris, France
Influenced by Percier and Fontaine, Napoleon’s architects who passionately enlarged natural designs, the porcelain manufacturers Dihl and Guerhard played with the dimensions of this floral motif. They created a design of fluid lines and contrasting colors that work to blur a realistic vision with idealized stylism. A golden background underscores its precious nature, quite abstract from this exuberant flower.
